About: Air Force contract decision wrong for America | The Morning Sun

For the full story, see: Air Force contract decision wrong for America | The Morning Sun

No, I am sorry, but it is not wrong for America. I rebut every line of this article below. The original comments from the article are in italics with exception of the bullet points.

The real story should be "How healthy competition saves America from compromising its national defense from her own imperialistic complacency". Now on to the article:

In the aviation industry, Airbus is a punch line to many insider jokes.

Only for American bigots.

But for the Air Force, Airbus — a foreign company known for being late and over budget on many of its projects — is now the winner of a $40 billion Tanker contract.

Since when is Boeing on-budget and on-time? You better quote some serious sources before getting sued for detraction.

Just over a week ago, the Air Force awarded the contract to the French company, leaving many in the states, especially Kansas and Washington, scratching their heads.

Airbus isn't a "French" company. It is European - the core made up of our closest allies until the Bush*t administration trashed the NATO alliance for personal reasons.

By taking this contract out of the county and away from Air Force-standby and Kansas-based Boeing, our state will miss out on approximately 1,000 jobs. And let us not for get that the US tax dollars that will pay for the project will now be fueling a foreign economy.

Our national defense should not be based on "jobs for the boys first".

For the past week, Kansas U.S. Sens. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts, along with Congressman Todd Tiahrt, have been fighting for answers as to why the contract, along with its money and job potential, are being sent overseas.

Neither of these two clowns deserve honorable mention.

In a release, the Republican officials said they would not rest until they knew:

• Why are we sending these jobs overseas when Boeing has a proven record of building Tankers?

- This has been Boeing's marketing campaign from it's bean counters to brainwash politicians into thinking that they should be awarded the contract.

-Proven record? The current tanker used by the Air Force was designed and built in the 1950's. How many of the engineers who designed it are still alive? The only people who are supporting the thing now are clerks who push paper when a spare parts order comes in and put the thing in a shipping container.

• Why did the Air Force choose a less-efficient aircraft that is harder to maneuver?

- Says who? You better state a scientific study that proves this point, otherwise, you should be sued for making such a statement.

• Why did the Air Force award this contract to a company that has never built a Tanker in its history?

- Because they had the better all-around offer to meet the Air Force's requirements - including a "proven" aircraft that has matched Boeing's comparative offer in the Civilian market. If this aircraft was so inferior, why did the Boeing CFO in 2003 have to conduct industrial espionage to try to win the bid back then?

• Why would the Air Force outsource a contract so critical to the security of our nation to a foreign company that is highly subsidized by European governments?

- Again, this is age old propaganda BS. The Europeans are our closest allies and for the sake of western civilisation, should be kept so.

Governors Kathleen Sebelius and Chris Gregoire of Washington — the home of a second Boeing plant that would have benefited from the contract — along with Second District Congresswomen Nancy Boyda, have also joined the fight.

Of course they would. There's an election coming up again soon... They don't want to lose their jobs either - even if it means compromising the defense of the rest of the United States of America.

"We cannot understand that at a time when our economy is struggling, the Bush administration would send American jobs and American money overseas," the governors said in their joint statement.

- Maybe they should become educated and not listen to journalistic BS like the points made by Jessica Tims-Seeliger.

"The decision is particularly surprising to us when Kansas and Washington have the best manufacturer of airplanes with the best work force in our states. These are high-wage, high-skill jobs – exactly the type of jobs we need to keep in America."

- Again, since when is our national defense based upon "jobs for the boys first" before what the best Air Force on the globe has decided meets it high-calibre, high-quality officer corps? Since when does Boeing and Politicians know what is better for our Air Force than the officers and enlisted who's job it is to study and request what they need to do THEIR job right?

The Kansas Senate even hopped on board, adopting a resolution this week asking President Bush and Congress to block the contract.

 - Of course, there is an election soon...

Just months after the president called on a stimulus package to jump start our recession-bound economy, the federal government has the audacity to turn its back on one of the biggest potential stimuli.

- Again, you're arrogance to presume that the Air Force has to follow your definition of defense (your job), and not let the professional fighting men and women of this country keep their high-standard of integrity and professionalism in order to keep your butt in a political job.

We call on the congress to continue its inquest in to the Tanker contract fiasco and support Boeing in its challenge of the contract, which is expected as early as the first of next week.

 - By all means, this is what helps make our country great. That is if we still believe in honesty and fair play - which from this article and the political BS behind it is highly questionable.

Many have voiced their discontent over the Airbus contract. We hope that if we all band together, we can convince the White House and the military that this decision is wrong for America.

- How many is "many"? You started this article by saying that Airbus is the butt of jokes inside the aviation industry. Don't blow such smoke when it isn't true. Boeing is going to be late on the 787 and over budget. All the efforts in the American press to demonize the Europeans and bad-mouth the Airbus A380 during the last six years only made us look like whiners and cry-babies.

Jessica Tims-Seeliger, for The Morning Sun

- Jessica, I would suggest you go back to elementary school and work your way through until you learn how to be a journalist and not a political propaganda writer in disguise.
